cakes and cookies

  • •1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • •3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • •1 egg
  • •1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • •2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • •1/2 teaspoon salt
  • •3 - 5.5 ounce bags (15.5 ounces total) soft caramels (or make your own)
  • •2 tablespoons milk or cream
  • •dash salt (opt)
  • •12 ounces (240 grams) milk chocolate, cut into pieces
  • •1 teaspoon non-hydrogenated vegetable shortening if needed to make the chocolate softer for dipping
  • Preparation:
    1. Directions unavailable - have to pay to get instructions! NOT!!
    2. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. In a seperate bowl, using a mixer, blend the butter and sugar well. Add the egg and vanilla extract. While still blending, gradually add the flour to the wet ingredients. On a lipped cookie sheet sprayed with Pam, spread the cookie dough out evenly. Bake at 325-350 until light brown. Put the caramel ingredients into a double boiler and melt. Spread the carmel on top of the cookie (still on cookie sheet). Put it in the fridge till set/hardened, then cut into Twix size bars. Place them in the freezer while you melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Now dip the frozen bars into the melted chocolate.
